La West Highland Way est un itin\u00e9raire de 155 km (4096m D+ et 4130 de D-) qui coommence \u00e0 Milngavie, au nord de Glasgow et se termine \u00e0 Fort William dans les Highlands \u00e9cossaises. Il fait partie des Grands Sentiers officiels \u00e9cossais. Le parcours offre des paysages \u00e0 couper le souffle au coeur des Highlands et est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l’une des plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bres randonn\u00e9es longue distance au monde. Cr\u00e9e en 1980, il \u00e9tait \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque le premier sentier d’une telle longueur en Ecosse et il fait d\u00e9sormais partie du Sentier International des Appalaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est d’usage d’emprunter le circuit du sud au nord. Les premi\u00e8res sections, plus faciles, constituent une pr\u00e9paration utile pour les sections plus exigeantes situ\u00e9es au nord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’\u00e9quipe du Prochain D\u00e9fi y sera du 05 au 10 juillet avec une distance de marche moyenne de 26-30km par jour. La dur\u00e9e de marche moyenne, bien qu’en dessous du GR20, ne devrait pas nous laisser beaucoup de temps mort puisque nous serons en route entre 5 et 8h par jour.
